It’s Not Too Late
Most people in the self-help motivational community are aware of Mark Victor Hansen and his “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series which has sold over 125 million copies worldwide.
You might even be aware of how many times his books were rejected by publishers. It was rejected something like 140 times before he finally was able to get it published.
but whet you might not know is that he went through a period of his life where
He was severely depressed
wanted to kill himself
and slept 18 hours a day
The thing that helped him the most during this time was listening to an audio tape entitled “Are You the Cause or Are You the Result,” by Cavett Robert.
He listened to it 287 times.
It helped him realize he was the creator of his life and needed to take charge again.
Its Not Too Late..
Cavett Robert is not as well known as Mark Victor Hansen. but he IS known as the dean of public speakers and is the founder of the National Speakers Association.
The interesting thing is he didn’t even launch his speaking career until he was 61 years old. If he had judged himself as too old to start a speaking career we might not have the series of Chicken Soup for the Soul books that have helped so many.
If you’re thinking I’m too old to start a new career at this point in my life you could be depriving thousands of people from hearing your unique message. Just think if these famous people who started their careers later in life would have felt that way…
Former president Ronald Reagan wasn’t elected to his first public office until he was 55 years old.
Sylvester Stallone was so broke that he had to sell his wife’s jewelry then his dog to pay his bills. He only became successful when the script for the movie Rocky was accepted (he was 30 at that time)
Harrison Ford was a struggling actor and had to work as a carpenter to pay his bills. He never saw real success before he was 35
J. K. Rowling (harry potter writer) struggled for years and her scripts rejected until she managed to sell the first one in her mid thirties
KFC’s Colonel Sanders didn’t become the chicken mogul we know and love until he was 65.
Susan Boyle: After struggling with financial difficulties, partial mental handicap and death of her mother became a famous singer at the age of 47!
Abraham Lincoln: Most probably he was the most defeated man in the world. After losing so many times in different elections he succeeded in becoming the president of the united states at the age of 51
People can switch careers and find success in their 30’s, 40’s and even 60’s!
Take this off your list of why you can’t follow your passion.
Age is no longer a factor
